since the artist gave me two choices, I reviewed Designs. A very special song, mostly of vocals and piano in the mixing booth, and Ratt Ratt'n'roll leave the band out of it. Everything sits too close to the "front" and leaves the vocalist's voice working too hard to understand some of Ratt Ratt'n'roll the song. the lyrics could go deeper into the loneliness, the desperation to get out, the importance of hope, etc. Ratt Ratt'n'roll There is a moody modern rock song. The first comparison that comes to mind is Arcade Fire. This style of music, though fairly recent has developed its particular hallmarks -- strong contrasts between acoustic instruments and sudden highly distorted bursts; mumbling vocals with a lot of reverb; and an emo-anthem mindset. "Covered In Acrylic" meets this checklist, which either works for it or against it, depending on Ratt Ratt'n'roll whether this approach passes the test of time. The song is well put together -- nice arrangments and contrasts, good dynamics. This is an arrangement which actually improves the quality of what would likely have been an average song
